The Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) Academy Summer 2025 Application

Are you concerned about challenging behaviors and want strategies to reduce them in early childhood classrooms?

Do you want to expand your knowledge and skills in specially designed instruction so that young children with disabilities can access the least restrictive environment as outlined in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act?

Join us for the SEIT Academy, where district teams can work to reduce challenging behaviors and enhance the use of specially designed instruction in early childhood classrooms, allowing children with disabilities to access their least restrictive environments.

The SEIT Academy is FREE for all participants and offers ongoing, flexible coaching opportunities during and after the completion of the 12-week program.

Those interested in participating in the upcoming SEIT Cohort can apply here. Applications have been extended to March 28, 2025.

Watch the information session below to learn more about SEIT Academy and the 2025 Cohort.

What is the SEIT Academy?

The Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) Academy is a virtual continuing education series and is designed to promote and support the implementation of a special education itinerant model within early childhood programs as part of the continuum of services for preschool children with disabilities. Over the course of three months, a cohort of school district teams will explore the following topics:

  • Special Education itinerant teaching and instruction
  • Social-Emotional supports in an inclusive setting
  • Coaching and consultation with community partners
  • Plus bonus content for administrators!

Who Should Apply?

The SEIT Academy is designed for School District Teams that include an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher and a District Administrator. Additional Team Members may hold some of the following positions within their school district:

  • General Education Teacher
  • Speech Language Pathologist
  • Behavior Specialist
  • School Psychologist
  • Other Service Provider Professionals

Implementation Support

SEIT Academy School District Teams will also have access to a SEIT Coach! Our SEIT Coach will partner with School District Teams to establish and/or enhance the implementation of itinerant services provided to young children within their school districts. For more information about Implementation Support, contact Tanya Hutchinson at TH72@mailbox.sc.edu.
